For something more dramatic, the dive center runs boat trips to nearby sites like Maamigili Beyru and Kottefaru, where the coral is healthier and the marine life more diverse.

Signature experiences—no extra charge

One of the best things about Emerald’s all-inclusive package is that it covers some of the usual Maldives extras. Sunset dolphin cruises, snorkeling trips to nearby reefs, and even a half-day fishing excursion are included in the rate. The resort also offers free yoga classes on the beach and a kids’ club with activities like treasure hunts and coconut painting. For something more adventurous, the dive center runs PADI courses and guided dives to sites like Maamigili Beyru, where you can see manta rays between December and April. The spa runs as the one exception—treatments aren’t included, but the overwater treatment rooms are worth the splurge if you’re in the mood for a massage.

Transfer—quick and straightforward

Emerald Maldives is about 35–40 minutes by seaplane from Malé, which is one of the shorter transfers in the Maldives. The resort arranges the seaplane for you, and the cost is usually bundled into your package. There’s no domestic flight or speedboat involved, so you won’t have to deal with multiple transfers or long waits. The seaplane lands right on the resort’s lagoon, and a golf cart will take you to reception in a short walk. If you’re arriving late or leaving early, the resort can arrange a speedboat transfer, but it’s a longer journey and not as scenic as the seaplane.

Who it suits

Fede guides families with older kids or teens to Emerald Maldives. The two-bedroom family villas give everyone space, and the all-inclusive package means no arguments over who gets the last soda. Couples who want a low-stress honeymoon would also do well here—the overwater villas are romantic without being over-the-top, and the lack of hidden fees means you can relax without worrying about the bill. Groups of friends could take over a few villas and split the cost, especially since the all-inclusive rate covers most of the activities. Even solo travelers would enjoy the resort’s laid-back vibe and the chance to meet other guests at the beach bar.

The honest bit

Emerald Maldives isn’t the place for divers who want polished reefs right off the beach. The house reef is fine for a quick snorkel, but serious divers will need to take a boat to nearby sites. The resort is also not as secluded as some of the ultra-luxury options in Raa Atoll—you can see the local island of Maduvvari from certain angles, though the villas are oriented to minimize the view. The all-inclusive package is generous, but it doesn’t cover everything. Spa treatments, premium wines, and some excursions (like private yacht charters) will cost extra. Finally, the resort is still relatively new, so some of the landscaping is a work in progress. The beach is lovely, but it’s not as pristine as the powder-white stretches you’ll find at older resorts.
