What you’re booking

Soneva Secret is the only resort in the Makunudhoo Atoll, 75 minutes by seaplane from Malé. The island is small—about 750 metres of soft white sand—but the lagoon is vast, stretching to the horizon without another resort in sight. There are thirteen villas in total: six beach villas, five overwater villas, and two lagoon Crusoe Villas that are only reachable by boat. Each villa has a retractable roof for stargazing, a private pool, a spa treatment room, and a gym. The newest addition, the Castaway floating villa, is the first of its kind in the Maldives and comes with its own chef and butler team.

The resort’s design is intentionally low-key. There’s no sprawling spa complex or ten restaurants to choose from. Instead, the focus is on privacy and personalization. The Living Room is the central hub—a casual all-day dining spot with a library, boutique, and Soneva’s famous ice cream and cheese rooms. For more formal meals, there’s Out of This World, a dining tower in the lagoon reachable by zipline, and So Primitive, a firepit restaurant on the beach. But most guests end up eating in their villa, where their private chef can prepare whatever they crave, whenever they want it.

What Fede needs to know

To give you an accurate quote, I’ll need a few details. These don’t have to be set in stone—just a starting point so I can tailor the offer.

• Travel dates: Even in the Maldives, seasons matter. January to April is peak season with the best weather, while May to October brings occasional rain but fewer crowds and more attentive service. Let me know your preferred dates or if you’re flexible.
• Villa type: Beach, overwater, or lagoon Crusoe? The Crusoe Villas are the most private, accessible only by boat, while the overwater villas have direct lagoon access and a curved water slide.
• Group size: How many adults and children? Each villa has adjoining bedrooms, so families can spread out without feeling cramped.
• Dining preferences: The rates include full board, but if you have dietary restrictions or specific requests (like a private chef specializing in Japanese cuisine), I’ll make sure it’s noted.
• Activities: Are you planning to dive with manta rays, take a sunset dolphin cruise, or just lounge by the pool? Some experiences are complimentary, while others require advance booking.
• Transfers: Most guests arrive by seaplane from Malé, but you can also fly into Kulhudhuffushi Airport and take a one-hour speedboat. If you’re combining your stay with Soneva Fushi or Soneva Jani, I’ll arrange the shared or private seaplane transfers between resorts.
