Soneva Secret has three villa categories, all designed to feel like private homes rather than hotel rooms. The resort’s small size—just 14 villas—means each one is spacious, secluded, and built to be entirely self-sufficient.

• Beach Villas (6 units): Set along the sunset side of the island, these villas open directly onto the soft white sand. Inside, the layout is open-plan, with no walls separating the living areas from the beach. The bedroom can be sealed off at night for air conditioning, but during the day, the villa feels like an extension of the outdoors. Each Beach Villa has a private pool, a spa treatment room on the rooftop, a gym, and a water slide that curves into the lagoon.
• Water Villas (5 units): Built on stilts over the lagoon, these villas offer 270-degree views of the ocean. The design is open on three sides, so you can watch the sunrise from your bed or the sunset from your pool. The rooftop features a spa room, a dining area, and a curved slide that drops straight into the water. Inside, there’s a master bedroom with a sunken bathtub, a smaller bedroom for children or guests, and a kitchen stocked with a Smeg fridge.
• Lagoon Crusoe Villas (2 units): Accessible only by boat, these are the most private villas at Soneva Secret. The Crusoe Reserve is a two-bedroom villa with an open-plan living area, two master bedrooms with retractable roofs, and two children’s bedrooms. The deck includes a private pool, catamaran nets, shaded dining areas, and a waterslide. The Crusoe Villa is a one-bedroom version with the same sense of seclusion and direct lagoon access. Both villas are designed for guests who want to feel like they’re the only people on the island.

Which villa is right for you?

The choice depends on how much privacy you want and whether you prefer to be on the beach or over the water.

• For honeymooners: I’d recommend a Water Villa. The open design, retractable roof, and direct lagoon access make it feel like a private sanctuary. The rooftop spa room is well suited to couples’ treatments, and the slide adds a playful touch.
• For families: The Crusoe Reserve is ideal. With two master bedrooms and two children’s bedrooms, it offers space for different travellers while keeping the family together. The private pool and waterslide will keep the kids entertained, and the boat transfer adds an element of adventure.
• For multi-generational groups: A Beach Villa works well. The open-plan design allows grandparents, parents, and children to share the space comfortably, while the private pool and direct beach access keep everyone connected to the outdoors.

The private chef experience

Every villa at Soneva Secret comes with a dedicated private chef—one of 14 chefs, each specialising in a different cuisine. You’re not assigned a single chef for your stay; instead, you can book any of them to cook for you, whether in your villa or at a secluded spot on the island. The chefs offer menus inspired by Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Maldivian, Italian, Indonesian, French, South American, Sri Lankan, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Korean, Indian, and Nordic flavours. You can request a 3 AM Croatian seafood feast or a simple Maldivian breakfast—whatever you want, they’ll prepare it. The focus is on personalisation, so if a dish isn’t to your liking, the chef will adjust it on the spot.

The villa layout: designed for privacy and freedom

The villas at Soneva Secret are built to be self-contained, so you could theoretically spend your entire stay without leaving. But the design also encourages you to explore the island and the lagoon.

• Open-plan living: The Beach Villas and Water Villas are designed without walls, so the living areas flow into the outdoor spaces. The bedroom can be closed off at night for air conditioning, but during the day, the villa feels like part of the beach or lagoon.
• Rooftop retreat: Every villa has a rooftop with a spa treatment room, a dining area, and a slide. The retractable roof in the master bedroom opens at the touch of a button, so you can stargaze from your bed.
• Private gym and kitchen: Each villa includes a small gym and a kitchen with a Smeg fridge. The kitchen isn’t meant for cooking—your private chef handles that—but it’s stocked with snacks, drinks, and fresh fruit.
• Water slide: A signature feature at Soneva Secret, the slide twists from the rooftop or deck directly into the lagoon. It’s not just for kids; adults use it just as often, especially at sunset.

The service: more than just butlers

Each villa is assigned a Barefoot Guardian and a Barefoot Assistant—two staff members who act as your personal concierges, chefs, and guides. They unpack your luggage, serve your meals, and accompany you on excursions. The Barefoot Guardian is your main point of contact, learning your preferences quickly and anticipating your needs. If you want a picnic on a sandbank, a private yoga session on the beach, or a midnight swim with manta rays, they’ll make it happen. The service is attentive but never intrusive, so you’ll feel like you have the island to yourself.

Wellness in your villa

Wellness at Soneva Secret isn’t confined to a spa. Each villa has a private spa room on the rooftop, where you can book treatments without leaving your accommodation. The resort also has a small communal spa with a sauna, steam room, and a double massage room, but the in-villa experience is what sets Soneva Secret apart. Yoga and meditation sessions can be arranged on your deck or the beach, and the gym in your villa means you can work out in privacy.
