Kuramathi isn’t a five-star luxury resort in the way some of the newer Maldives properties are. The villas are comfortable but not palatial, and the restaurants are more family-friendly than gourmet. If you’re looking for a resort where the staff remember your name and your cocktail order, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for a place where your kids can run around safely, make friends, and learn something new every day, it’s perfect. The island is also one of the larger resorts in the Maldives, which means it can feel busy year-round. If you’re traveling in December or January, book early—it fills up fast. And while the house reef is great for snorkeling, it’s not as vibrant as some of the reefs in the southern atolls. If diving is a priority, you might want to look elsewhere.
