Why Faarufushi?

Faarufushi is small—just 80 villas on a coral island that’s still lush with native palms. The resort is part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, a collection that values understatement over spectacle. There are no water slides or overwater spas here. Instead, you get a house reef that starts at the reef deck, where eagle rays and turtles glide past coral overhangs. The spa is a series of coconut-shaped domes tucked into the gardens, each with its own bathtub and outdoor shower. Yoga sessions happen under a banyan tree at sunrise.

The villas are split between beach and overwater. Beach retreats wrap around palm trees, with private pools that overlook the lagoon. Overwater villas have glass walls that slide open, so the ocean is always in view—whether you’re in bed or soaking in the tub. Most villas have L’Occitane amenities and an outdoor shower. Faarufushi has three restaurants and two bars. Iru is the all-day spot: buffet breakfast, then a beachfront dinner with candlelight. Athiri is the casual choice—feet in the sand, tapas and ceviche, Mediterranean flavors. Eclipse is the signature restaurant, shaped like a crescent over the water, built for sunset views and gourmet meals. Sangu Bar sits by the infinity pool, and Boli is the sunset lounge at the reef’s edge, where cocktails come with panoramic ocean views.

You can choose half-board (breakfast and dinner) or the full Dine Around All Inclusive, which adds extras like PETER diving—a beginner-friendly way to explore the reef with an air supply that floats on the surface.
