Why Mercure Kooddoo?
The resort was built to feel different. No over-water villas on stilts here—just a single row of beachfront octagons, each with a plunge pool and a deck that spills onto the sand. The interiors mix European prints with Maldivian materials, so the look is fresh but never cold. The island itself is small, which keeps the vibe intimate. There’s no house reef to swim out to, but the boat trips to nearby reefs are short, and the coral is healthy. The sense of seclusion is real: fewer than fifty villas, no crowds, and a horizon that stretches empty in every direction.
Fede guides couples here who want a contemporary, low-key stay, or small families who don’t need a kids’ club but do want space to spread out. The resort stays focused, and that’s its strength.
What Fede needs to build your quote
A quick message on WhatsApp is all it takes. Tell me:
- Travel dates (or a flexible window)
- Number of guests and ages of any children
- Villa preference—beach or over-water (Mercure Kooddoo offers beach villas only, but I’ll confirm that for you)
- Any worth trying experiences—private dining, reef trips, spa treatments
- Whether you’d like a half-board, full-board, or all-inclusive plan
I’ll reply within hours with a custom quote that includes transfers, meal plans, and any extras you’ve asked for. No generic packages, no upsells—just the details you need to decide.
Transfers: the quiet route to Gaafu Alifu
Kooddoo has its own domestic airport, so the transfer is a single 55-minute flight from Malé. The resort arranges the flight, and I’ll book it for you as part of your package. The flight is small—usually a Twin Otter—so luggage is limited to 20 kg per person. If you’re bringing dive gear or surfboards, let me know upfront so I can arrange extra hold space.
The atoll is remote, but that’s the point. The flight is smooth, the views are endless, and the arrival is seamless: a short buggy ride from the airstrip to your villa.
Dining: simple, fresh, no fuss
The main restaurant serves buffet-style meals with a mix of Maldivian and international dishes. Grilled fish, coconut curries, and salads that change with the catch of the day. There’s no underwater restaurant or chef’s table, but the food is consistently good, and the setting—open-air, right on the beach—is hard to beat. If you want a private dinner, the resort can set one up on your deck or on a sandbank nearby.
Snorkelling and diving: by boat, but worth it
The lagoon is sandy, so reef trips are by boat. The resort runs daily snorkelling excursions to nearby sites where the coral is healthy and the fish are plentiful. Diving is through a PADI centre on-site, with trips to channels and thilas in Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The atoll is less dived than Baa or Ari, so the reefs feel untouched. If you’re a diver, let me know—I’ll make sure your quote includes the right number of tanks and any specialty gear you need.
