The Villas

Milaidhoo's villas are small for the price tier — the 50-square-metre water villas are smaller than equivalent over-water categories at properties charging less. Hardware is well-maintained but doesn't grow proportionally with rate. The categories cover beach and over-water with private pools on most. Beach Pool Villas have direct sand access. Water Pool Villas extend over the lagoon with covered patios that work in both sun and rain. Most categories accommodate two comfortably; the property doesn't accept children under nine.

Dining

Milaidhoo's food across the three restaurants is competent. Ocean (the main) handles the AI rotations. Breakfast is excellent and ranks alongside Soneva, Jumeirah, and Amilla.

The House Reef

Milaidhoo Island is renowned for its exceptional house reef, which encircles the entire island and is easily accessible from the shoreline. The reef is concentrated with marine life, including long jawed mackerel, gold spot emperors, small spotted darts, fusiliers, schooling bannerfish, black pyramid butterflyfish, blue stripe snappers, gold-spot emperors, brain coral, bottlenose dolphins, and lemon sharks. The honest bit

Good to know: Milaidhoo is a small, calm resort with a deliberately adult-oriented feel. Children under nine are not accepted, which helps preserve the quieter atmosphere, but it also means this is not a fit for families with younger children.

The reef is a major strength and one of the best reasons to choose the resort. That said, Milaidhoo is not a large, activity-heavy island. It is better suited to guests who want snorkelling, marine life, privacy and personal service than those looking for a busy resort with lots of facilities, nightlife or constant programming.

The villas are attractive and well kept, but they are not oversized for the price point. Travellers comparing purely on villa scale or cutting-edge design may find stronger value elsewhere. Milaidhoo’s premium is more about the reef, service, intimacy and atmosphere than the largest or most dramatic room product.

The main commercial watchout is half board. The structure works best if guests are happy eating mainly at the principal restaurant, as the credit for the two other restaurants is limited and may not cover a full meal. In practice, the plan can feel more like a main-restaurant half-board arrangement with occasional use of the other venues rather than full flexibility across the resort.
