Dive Centre: PADI Gold Palm & 100% Project Aware

The Dive Centre at One&Only Reethi Rah is a PADI Gold Palm Resort and a 100% Project Aware member—one of only a handful in the Maldives. A multilingual team of PADI instructors runs daily guided dives, introductory courses, and full certification programmes from beginner to Divemaster. Languages spoken include English, German, French, Italian, Russian, and Swedish. Children as young as eight can join the PADI Seal Team or Bubblemaker sessions, making it easy for families to explore together.

  • Discover Scuba Diving: 3-hour intro for first-timers, no certification needed.
  • PADI Open Water: 3–4 days, includes four open-water dives.
  • Advanced Open Water: 2–3 days, five adventure dives including deep and navigation.
  • Rescue Diver & Divemaster: professional-level training for serious enthusiasts.
  • Daily guided dives: two morning dives and one sunset dive, max 6 guests per guide.
  • Night snorkelling: spot reef sharks and stingrays around the overwater villas.

The centre’s recommended dives are named for what you’ll see: Shark Dive, Turtle Dive, Stingray Dive, and Wreck Dive. Equipment is top-tier—Scubapro regulators, Aqualung BCDs, and Apeks computers—so you’re kitted out like a pro. Private dive boats can be chartered for half-day or full-day excursions to thilas and farus further afield.

Snorkelling: turtles, rays & a short swim from the beach

While the house reef isn’t the Maldives’ most vibrant, it’s surprisingly fishy. About 100 metres from the beach club, a healthy patch of coral hosts turtles, reef sharks, and schools of butterflyfish. Snorkelling gear—masks, fins, vests, and underwater cameras—is free to borrow from the Dive Centre. Life vests are mandatory for children under twelve, and the team will brief you on the best entry points. Night snorkels reveal stingrays gliding over the sandy bottom beneath the overwater villas.

Spa: ESPA, Watsu & visiting healers

The One&Only Spa sits on the sunrise side of the island, tucked behind manicured gardens. Fourteen treatment pavilions—eight individual and two over-water couples suites—offer ocean views and thatched roofs. The spa menu draws from global traditions: Balinese body scrubs, Chinese red-bean face masks, and Bhutanese chilli detox drinks. The signature Watsu therapy—water shiatsu in a warm mineral pool—is exclusive to Reethi Rah in the Maldives. Stretches, pressure points, and flowing movements dissolve tension while you float.

A Wellness Visiting Practitioner programme brings international experts in acupuncture, Pilates, herbal medicine, and mindfulness. Check the monthly schedule when you book; slots fill quickly. The spa also houses a Bastien Gonzalez podiatry studio, a hair salon, and a gentlemen’s grooming suite with wet shaves and facials.

Fitness: gym, Queenax & outdoor training

The Fitness Centre is the best-equipped gym in the Maldives. Indoors, Technogym ARTIS machines include Kinesis stations for functional training and indoor cycling bikes. Outdoors, a Queenax Super functional zone lets you box, battle-rope, or body-weight train with ocean views. Personal trainers design programmes for all levels, and the Recharge Bar serves post-workout smoothies and protein bites.

  • Daily yoga: sunrise sessions on the fitness beach or at the Chi Pavilion.
  • Jogging trail: 3.7-mile loop around the island, marked and floodlit.
  • Tennis: two floodlit courts with a resident pro for private lessons.
  • Padel: a floodlit court next to the gym for fast-paced doubles.
  • Climbing wall: 8-metre outdoor wall with auto-belay for solo climbers.

KidsOnly & One Tribe: ages 4–17

KidsOnly welcomes children from four to twelve. The club has its own swimming pool, dining area, playground, and supervised activities: pizza-making, Maldivian drumming, arts and crafts, and guided snorkelling with the marine biologist. Younger siblings under four are welcome if accompanied by a guardian.

One Tribe is the teen hangout for ages thirteen to seventeen. A chill-out zone with bean bags, gaming consoles, and a music playlist curated by the counsellors. Activities include paddleboat races, beach volleyball tournaments, movie nights, and fire-dancing classes. Families can book private sandbank dinners or stargazing sessions from the treehouse, making memories that outlast the holiday.

Water sports: from jet skis to seabobs

SPLASH Water Sports Centre is the resort’s adrenaline hub. Jet skis, flyboards, banana tubes, and kitesurfing are available for thrill-seekers. Kayaks, SUP boards, and paddle boats let you explore the lagoon at your own pace. Seabobs—electric underwater scooters—are a favourite; they let you zip through the water at 20 km/h without getting tired. Catamarans and windsurfers are also on hand, and the team will teach you the basics if you’re new.

Excursions: sandbanks, sunset cruises & big-game fishing

The resort’s private yacht, a 23-metre Sunseeker, can be chartered for half-day or full-day excursions. Popular options include:

  • Sandbank Experience: a picnic lunch on a deserted sandbar with snorkelling gear.
  • Luxury Sunset Cruise: champagne, canapés, and a golden-hour backdrop.
  • Sundown Catamaran Dinner: a floating feast under the stars.
  • Big Game Fishing: troll for tuna, mahi-mahi, or marlin with the resort’s skipper.
  • Maldives by Air: a 30-minute scenic seaplane flight over the atolls.

Fede guides couples on the sunset cruise; it’s intimate without being cheesy. Families with older kids should try the sandbank—it’s like having your own private island for a few hours.

Wellness beyond the spa

The Superfoods breakfast counter at Reethi Restaurant serves freshly squeezed juices and antioxidant-rich bowls. Daily yoga and meditation sessions are held on the fitness beach or at the Chi Pavilion. The resort’s marine biologist leads coral-conservation workshops where kids and adults learn to build artificial reefs. It’s a gentle reminder that wellness here isn’t just about treatments—it’s about reconnecting with the ocean and each other.

Is the house reef good for snorkelling?

The reef is about 100 metres from the beach club and hosts turtles, reef sharks, and schools of fish. It’s not the Maldives’ most healthy coral, but it’s fishy and easy to access. Night snorkels reveal stingrays beneath the overwater villas.

Can children learn to dive?

Yes. The Dive Centre offers PADI Bubblemaker for ages 8–10 and Seal Team for ages 10–12. Children must be comfortable in the water and accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Are there any complimentary fitness classes?

Daily yoga and meditation sessions are complimentary. Private sessions and personal training are chargeable. Check the weekly schedule at Club One for times.

What’s the best excursion for families?

The sandbank experience is a hit. The resort sets up a picnic lunch, snorkelling gear, and shade on a deserted sandbar. It’s like having your own private island for a few hours.

Is the spa suitable for couples?

Yes. Two over-water couples suites offer side-by-side treatments with ocean views. The Watsu therapy is particularly romantic—floating together in a warm mineral pool while a therapist guides gentle stretches.

Can I charter a private boat for diving?

Absolutely. The Dive Centre can arrange a private speedboat for half-day or full-day diving trips. You’ll have a dedicated guide and skipper, and the boat is equipped with oxygen and first aid.

What happens if it rains?

The resort’s scale means you can always find indoor options: the Art Studio, library, gym, or spa. KidsOnly and One Tribe move activities under cover, and the cinema in the Grand Sunset Residence screens family films. Lately, even the briefest showers are followed by sunny spells—well suited to a quick dip.
