And because the resort is smaller—around two dozen villas—you’ll never feel like you’re sharing the beach with a crowd.

The villas: space, privacy, and a pool for most guests

The villas at Seaside Finolhu are designed for people who want to wake up to the sound of waves, not the sound of construction. The Ocean Pool Villas are the most popular, and for good reason. Each one sits on its own stretch of beach, with a private deck, an infinity pool, and an outdoor bathroom that includes a rain shower. If you’re traveling with kids or another couple, the Rockstar Two-Bedroom Ocean Pool Villas are worth the upgrade. These villas are at the end of the jetty, so you get uninterrupted ocean views from every room. Inside, you’ll find two master bedrooms with walk-in wardrobes, two luxurious bathrooms, and a living area with a wine bar. Outside, the deck includes a dining area and a cabana swing, well suited to lazy afternoons with a glass of wine. The 8-meter infinity pool is long enough for a proper swim, and the villa’s position means you’ll get some of the best sunset views on the island.

The honest bit

Finolhu is not the quietest or most understated luxury resort in the Maldives, nor does it have the best or most accessible snorkeling. Its personality is part of the appeal, but guests wanting a very soft, hushed and private island may prefer a calmer property.

The design is colourful and expressive rather than timelessly neutral. Many guests love that, but it is worth matching carefully with clients who prefer a very natural or minimalist aesthetic.

The Baa Atoll location is a strength, especially for guests interested in seasonal marine life, but manta or whale shark encounters should never be sold as guaranteed. They are wildlife experiences and depend on season and conditions.

Villa location is important here as several land villas actually face a not so attractive part of the beach so it is important to book the right one (AKA - avoid the private pool villas).

Finolhu is strongest for couples, families and groups who want style, beach energy, a sandbank setting and a less formal resort mood. It is less suited to travellers who want total seclusion, a very quiet honeymoon island or a classic low-key Maldivian design language.
