Yes. All travellers must complete the online Traveller Declaration form at imuga.immigration.gov.mv within 72 hours of departure.
CAN I BRING CIGARETTES OR TOBACCO INTO THE MALDIVES?
Yes. Japanese travellers can bring up to 200 cigarettes, 25 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco for personal use.
ARE VAPE PRODUCTS ALLOWED IN THE MALDIVES?
No. As of November 2024, all vape products and e-cigarette components are banned in the Maldives—both for import and use.
CAN I BRING ALCOHOL INTO THE MALDIVES?
No. Alcohol and pork products are prohibited from being brought into the Maldives. Resorts serve both, so no need to pack your own.
WHAT CURRENCY SHOULD I BRING TO THE MALDIVES?
US dollars are the most widely accepted currency, though euros and pounds are also commonly used. Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) are accepted at resorts.
